Oliver POS doesn't have a partnership with Mollie. It supports Mollie the same way any WooCommerce store does — through Mollie's official WooCommerce plugin, opened inside Oliver's in-POS browser view at the counter. For European retailers, that is genuinely useful: a single Mollie account already covers iDEAL, Bancontact, SEPA, cards, and a long tail of EU local methods. The Mollie WooCommerce POS flow described here is the same hosted Mollie checkout, surfaced at the till.
What Mollie is, exactly
Mollie is a Dutch payment-service provider headquartered in Amsterdam, founded in 2004 and now one of the largest independent PSPs in Europe. It is licensed as a payments institution and is best known for two things: a clean developer experience and unusually broad coverage of local European methods. A single Mollie agreement typically gives a merchant access to iDEAL, Bancontact, SEPA Direct Debit, KBC/CBC, Belfius, EPS, Przelewy24, Sofort, Trustly, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Visa/Mastercard.
Pricing is published as a flat per-transaction fee with no monthly minimums for most plans, which suits the smaller and mid-sized retailers who tend to deploy WooCommerce. Oliver does not negotiate any of that.
How Oliver POS opens Mollie at the counter
The till flow is the standard Oliver pattern. The cashier rings up an order in Oliver POS, taps Pay, and selects the desired Mollie method (for example, iDEAL or Bancontact). Oliver loads the corresponding Mollie checkout page inside an in-POS browser view, a full-screen webview locked to that single sale.
The customer either scans a QR with their bank's mobile app (iDEAL, Bancontact mobile), enters card details, or chooses from any other enabled method. Mollie authorises, confirms to WooCommerce, the order is recorded as paid against the cart Oliver assembled, the in-POS browser view closes, and the receipt prints. Oliver itself never sees the payment data; the WooCommerce plugin is the only integration point. That is the whole Mollie WooCommerce POS path.
The Mollie WooCommerce plugin — what Oliver rides on
The integration is powered by the official Mollie Payments for WooCommerce plugin, published and maintained by Mollie. Once installed and connected to the merchant's Mollie account via the API key, every method the merchant has activated in Mollie's dashboard appears as a checkout option exactly like any other WooCommerce gateway.
Oliver's in-POS browser view simply opens that gateway against the in-store cart. Method-level settings the merchant changes in WordPress or in Mollie's dashboard — minimum amounts, country availability, branding — propagate to the till automatically. The dedicated Mollie integration page covers setup detail, and the broader pattern is in integrations.
Why Mollie is a good fit for European retail
Mollie is a particularly clean answer for any retailer that operates in or sells across multiple European markets and wants to avoid stitching together separate gateways for each country's preferred method. One Mollie agreement gives a Dutch retailer iDEAL, a Belgian retailer Bancontact, a German retailer Sofort and SEPA, and a Polish retailer Przelewy24, plus cards everywhere.
For WooCommerce stores that already run Mollie online, putting Mollie WooCommerce POS at the till is the lowest-friction option — the rates are unchanged, the dashboard is the same, settlement still flows to the same SEPA bank account, and refunds work the same way. For pop-ups and small-format shops, the QR-and-app flows for iDEAL or Bancontact remove the need for any card terminal hardware.
What this is NOT
- Oliver POS does not partner with Mollie. No co-marketing, no rev-share, no special rates.
- Oliver does not negotiate Mollie pricing. The merchant pays Mollie's published per-transaction rates.
- Oliver does not sit in the money flow. Mollie is the licensed payments institution and remits the funds; Oliver is the POS software.
- The integration is the same WooCommerce plugin Mollie already ships. Oliver opens it inside its in-POS browser view.
Setup in 4 steps
- Create a Mollie account and complete the merchant onboarding. Activate the methods relevant to your markets (iDEAL, Bancontact, cards, etc.).
- Install Mollie Payments for WooCommerce from the WordPress.org plugin directory and connect it with your Mollie API key under WooCommerce → Settings → Payments.
- Install Oliver POS, connect it to the same WooCommerce store, and enable Mollie methods as counter payment options in Oliver's payments settings.
- Run a small live test order at the till for each method you plan to offer and confirm orders show in WooCommerce and the Mollie dashboard.
FAQ
Does Oliver POS partner with Mollie?
No. Oliver has no commercial partnership with Mollie. The Mollie WooCommerce POS integration is the official Mollie Payments for WooCommerce plugin, opened inside Oliver's in-POS browser view.
Does Oliver charge a markup on Mollie?
No. The merchant pays Mollie's published rates directly. Oliver's pricing is for the POS software and is independent of payment volume.
Which Mollie methods work at the counter?
Anything Mollie surfaces as a redirect-style checkout works inside Oliver's in-POS browser view, including iDEAL, Bancontact, EPS, Przelewy24, Sofort, KBC/CBC, Belfius, and cards. The customer either scans a QR or enters card details on the Mollie page.
Can I refund a counter sale through Mollie?
Yes. Refunds are issued from WooCommerce or the Mollie dashboard exactly the same way as for online sales. Oliver records the refund against the original POS order.
Mollie's appeal for European WooCommerce retailers is breadth without complexity — one agreement, many methods, predictable pricing. Putting Mollie WooCommerce POS at the till with Oliver doesn't change any of that; it just opens the same checkout in front of an in-store customer. Try Oliver POS free for 30 days at /demo/.
