Zaczęło się od jednego upartego klienta
In 2017, our founder Mathias Nielsen was running a WordPress agency. A client opened a physical store and asked for a point-of-sale system that talked to their WooCommerce inventory. He looked. There wasn't one. Not really. The plugins available either crashed under any real volume, or required you to mirror your WooCommerce data into a separate system and pray the sync didn't drift.
So Mathias built it. The first version of Oliver POS ran on an iPad for that one client. They wanted to share it with another shop. We said sure. Eight years later we power thousands of stores across 50+ countries, and Oliver remains the only POS built natively on top of WooCommerce from the first commit.
Where we are today
Our headquarters is in St. John's, Newfoundland — a port city on the easternmost edge of North America that punches well above its weight in software. We have a product and design office in Berlin and an engineering office in Bengaluru. The team is over 30 people. We're backed by Genesis Centre. We're profitable. We don't plan to be acquired.
What gets us out of bed
WooCommerce powers more online stores than any other platform in the world. Merchants who chose it did so because they value independence — they don't want to be locked into Shopify's walled garden, and they don't want to rebuild their store every time a SaaS POS company decides to deprecate something. We exist to make sure those merchants can extend that same independence onto the shop floor.

Built by retailers
The Oliver team includes people who have actually run shops. We obsess over the second cashiers tap a wrong button and we ask retailers what they want before we ship features.
Adaptability over perfection
Retail is messy, regulated, and regional. We build flexibility into Oliver so merchants can shape it to their shop, not the other way around.
