Self-serve checkout on the tablet you already own

Turn any iPad or Android tablet into a self-checkout kiosk. Customers scan, pay, and walk — staff supervise. Built into Oliver POS, no extra software.

Self-checkout, the WooCommerce way

Designed for shops that want self-service without buying enterprise kiosk hardware.

Tablet-first kiosk UI

Big touch targets, big buttons, locked navigation. The kiosk mode hides admin features so customers can only complete the checkout flow.

Card and contactless only

Self-checkout accepts cards and digital wallets through your integrated payment processor. No cash drawer, no cash-handling risk.

Built-in supervisor PIN

Cashiers can step in for age-restricted items, refunds, manual price entry, or aborted sales with a PIN — without unlocking the whole register.

Idle reset and session timeout

If a customer walks away mid-sale, the kiosk auto-returns to the welcome screen after a configurable timeout. No abandoned carts on the screen.

Receipts: email, print, or skip

Customers choose how they want their receipt. SMS, email, paper, or nothing — and the option is presented in plain language.

Two-way WooCommerce sync

Self-checkout transactions are normal WooCommerce orders. Stock decrements, customer profiles update, reports include them automatically.

When self-checkout pays for itself

For most shops the maths is simple: every minute a staff member spends processing a basket of bottled water and a sandwich is a minute they could spend on the floor, on the phone, or rebuilding the display. Self-checkout takes the simple sales — the "I know what I want, I just need to pay" sales — off the staffed line.

Cafés use it at peak hours to absorb queue length without adding cashiers. Apparel shops use it for tap-and-go on accessory purchases. Convenience stores use it for grab-and-go items. Bookshops use it after closing for events.

Because the kiosk runs Oliver POS underneath, every sale is a normal WooCommerce order. Stock, reports, customer profiles, and tax all behave exactly as they do at the staffed register.

Frequently asked questions

What hardware do I need?
An iPad or Android tablet, a tablet stand or kiosk enclosure, and an integrated card reader or Tap to Pay on the same device. Optional add-ons: barcode scanner, receipt printer, and a customer-facing display if you want one.
Can the same tablet be both staff register and self-checkout?
Yes — toggle between full register and kiosk mode with a PIN. Useful for shops that switch a register from staffed to self-serve at quiet times of day.
How do you handle age-restricted products?
When the customer scans an age-restricted SKU, the kiosk pauses the sale and calls a supervisor with an audible chime. The supervisor confirms ID and unblocks the sale with their PIN.
What happens if the customer can't pay?
The kiosk holds the sale as a parked order and shows a help message. A supervisor can resolve from the main POS — no lost transactions, no awkward voids.
Is self-checkout an extra cost?
Self-checkout is a $49 add-on on top of any Oliver POS plan. One add-on enables kiosk mode on as many tablets as you license.
