Acceptable Use Policy

The rules of the road. What you can do, what you can't, and what happens if you cross the line.

What's allowed

Running a legitimate retail or hospitality business on Oliver POS in compliance with applicable law. That covers the overwhelming majority of merchants and is what Oliver is designed for.

What isn't

Don't use Oliver POS to:

  • Process payments for illegal goods or services in the jurisdiction where the sale occurs.
  • Process payments you don't have the legal right to accept (third-party billing on someone else's behalf without authority).
  • Defraud customers, processors, banks, or Oliver.
  • Launder money or evade sanctions.
  • Spam, harass, deceive, or threaten anyone using contact data captured through Oliver.
  • Sell counterfeit, infringing, or misrepresented goods.
  • Sell age-restricted goods to minors. Oliver provides age-verification tooling; using it correctly is the merchant's responsibility.
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or attempt to extract source code from Oliver POS.
  • Use Oliver in a way that interferes with the service for other merchants (excessive API calls, denial of service, etc.).

Prohibited industries

Some industries are prohibited because of payment-processor restrictions, our underwriting limits, or legal risk:

  • Illegal drugs and unregulated controlled substances.
  • Firearms and ammunition in jurisdictions where online sale or POS automation is restricted.
  • Adult content (varies by processor — check with us before signing up).
  • Gambling and gaming (varies by jurisdiction).
  • Multi-level marketing schemes that don't meet local consumer-protection standards.

If you're unsure whether your industry is supported, email sales@oliverpos.com before signing up. We'd rather have the conversation up front than suspend the account later.

Enforcement

Violations may result in suspension, account termination, and (in cases involving fraud or illegal activity) referral to law enforcement. We try to give merchants notice and a chance to remedy before terminating, except where the violation is severe or where notice would create harm.

Reporting violations

If you believe a merchant is misusing Oliver POS, please report it to trust@oliverpos.com. We review every report and respond appropriately.
