Bancontact for WooCommerce POS
Bancontact — Belgium's domestic payment scheme — at the Oliver POS.
Powered through the Mollie / Stripe / Adyen — any Bancontact-capable WooCommerce gateway plugin — install it on WordPress, configure under WooCommerce → Settings → Payments, and Oliver picks it up at the register automatically.
How Bancontact works with Oliver POS for WooCommerce
Bancontact is Belgium's domestic debit card and account-to-account scheme, used in over 1.5B annual transactions. Oliver POS surfaces Bancontact inside the in-POS browser view via Mollie, Stripe, Adyen, or any other Bancontact-capable WooCommerce gateway.
Bancontact, Belgium's payment workhorse
Bancontact is the domestic debit card scheme operated by Belgian banks. Roughly 16 million Bancontact cards exist for a population of 11 million — most adult Belgians carry one. Online, Bancontact also operates a mobile-app authentication flow where the customer scans a QR with the Bancontact app, authenticates with their PIN, and the bank settles.
Bancontact at the Oliver POS register
Bancontact is surfaced by Mollie, Stripe, Adyen, MultiSafepay, and other European gateways. From the Oliver register, the cashier picks the gateway; Oliver opens the hosted page in the in-POS browser view; the customer picks Bancontact and either enters their card number or scans the QR with the Bancontact app; the bank approves; Oliver writes the WooCommerce order.
Why Belgian retailers need this
A Belgian customer often expects Bancontact specifically — using Visa or Mastercard at the counter is the fallback, not the default. For a Belgian retailer, omitting Bancontact at the Oliver POS would lose sales the same way omitting iDEAL would in the Netherlands.
Best fit for retailers who…
Enable Bancontact at the Oliver POS in any Belgian retail context. It's mandatory consumer expectation and the cheapest acceptance cost on the Belgian market.
