How Mercado Pago works with Oliver POS for WooCommerce

Mercado Pago is the payments arm of Mercado Libre and the dominant digital wallet across Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, and Peru. Oliver POS opens the Mercado Pago hosted checkout inside the in-POS browser view via the official WooCommerce plugin.

Mercado Pago in Latin America

Mercado Pago is the financial-services arm of Mercado Libre — Latin America's biggest ecommerce marketplace. The Mercado Pago wallet has hundreds of millions of users across LATAM and is the default digital-wallet method for many local consumers. It also aggregates cash-voucher methods (OXXO in Mexico, Boleto in Brazil, Rapipago in Argentina) and the Pix instant-payment rail in Brazil.

Mercado Pago in the Oliver POS browser view

The Mercado Pago WooCommerce plugin opens Mercado Pago's hosted checkout. From the Oliver register, the cashier picks Mercado Pago; Oliver opens the page in the in-POS browser view; the customer picks their preferred method (wallet, card, Pix, OXXO); Mercado Pago confirms; Oliver writes the WooCommerce order. For Pix specifically, the customer scans a QR with any Brazilian banking app and the transfer completes in seconds.

Cash-voucher acceptance

For LATAM retailers selling to unbanked or under-banked customers, Mercado Pago's OXXO and Boleto acceptance is useful — the customer reserves the purchase online (or at the Oliver POS counter via the in-POS browser view) and pays cash at any OXXO store (Mexico) or Boleto-accepting agent (Brazil) within 24-72 hours.

Best fit for retailers who…

Enable Mercado Pago at the Oliver POS in any Latin American retail context. It's consumer expectation in Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, and Peru, and the broad method coverage is hard to replicate with any other single provider.
