How BitPay works with Oliver POS for WooCommerce

BitPay is one of the longest-running crypto-payment processors, founded in 2011. It accepts BTC, ETH, USDC and others, and settles to the merchant's bank account in fiat (USD, EUR, GBP) so the merchant doesn't hold crypto.

BitPay's fiat-settlement model

BitPay was founded in 2011 and is one of the oldest crypto-payment processors. Its differentiator is that the merchant never holds cryptocurrency: BitPay accepts the customer's crypto, instantly converts to fiat at the moment of payment, and settles to the merchant's bank in USD, EUR, or GBP. The retailer takes no crypto-price risk.

BitPay in the Oliver POS browser view

The BitPay WooCommerce plugin opens BitPay's hosted checkout. From the Oliver register, the cashier picks BitPay; Oliver opens the page in the in-POS browser view; the customer scans the QR with their crypto wallet, sends the crypto payment, and the BitPay page confirms; Oliver writes the WooCommerce order. BitPay deposits fiat into the merchant's bank on a normal settlement schedule.

Best fit for retailers who…

Pick BitPay at the Oliver POS if you want to accept crypto without ever holding crypto. It's the right pick for retailers who view crypto as one more incoming-payment rail, not a treasury strategy.

Common questions about BitPay on Oliver POS

Does Oliver POS have a partnership with BitPay?

No. Oliver doesn't partner with BitPay or any other payment gateway. We support BitPay because it ships a WooCommerce gateway plugin — Oliver opens the hosted checkout inside the in-POS browser view. Your account, your rates, and your support contract stay between you and BitPay.

Does Oliver charge extra to use BitPay?

No. You pay BitPay's standard published rates directly to BitPay. Oliver doesn't take a markup, doesn't insert itself into the money flow, and doesn't charge a per-transaction fee on top.
