How Cash App Pay works with Oliver POS for WooCommerce
Cash App Pay (owned by Block/Square) lets US customers pay with their Cash App balance. Oliver POS surfaces Cash App Pay inside the in-POS browser view via the Square or Stripe WooCommerce plugin.
Cash App Pay is the wallet of Gen Z America
Cash App is the most-used peer-to-peer payment app among Americans under 30. Cash App Pay lets a customer pay a merchant with the balance in their Cash App account, the same way they'd Venmo a friend. Block (Square's parent) made Cash App Pay available as a method on both Square and Stripe checkouts.
Cash App Pay in the Oliver POS browser view
The cashier picks Square or Stripe Checkout on the Oliver register; Oliver opens the hosted page in the in-POS browser view; the customer scans the Cash App Pay QR code with their phone and confirms in the Cash App on their device. Funds move from their Cash App balance, Oliver writes the WooCommerce order, and the receipt prints.
Why this matters for indie retail
For specialty shops, food stalls, vintage clothing, and any business with a Gen Z customer base, Cash App Pay is increasingly the friction-free option. The customer doesn't need to take out a card, doesn't need to type details into your iPad, and pays from a balance they've already topped up.
Best fit for retailers who…
Enable Cash App Pay at the Oliver POS if you sell to US consumers under 35, if you have a Square or Stripe account already, and if your customer base sometimes pays for things by Venmo or Cash App rather than reaching for a card.
