How Verifone (2Checkout) works with Oliver POS for WooCommerce

Verifone (the rebranded 2Checkout) is a global online payments aggregator. Oliver POS uses its WooCommerce plugin to open its hosted "ConvertPlus" page inside the in-POS browser view.

What 2Checkout became

2Checkout was an online aggregator that grew up alongside PayPal in the early 2000s, was acquired by Avangate, and is now part of Verifone. It is particularly strong for cross-border ecommerce — digital goods, SaaS, and online retailers selling into 200+ countries with local methods and currencies.

Why a brick-and-mortar shop would use it

Most brick-and-mortar shops don't need a 200-country aggregator. But for niche retailers selling specialty goods to a global audience — Norwegian wool, Japanese stationery, Swiss watches — Verifone's aggregation simplifies the long tail of payment methods. From the Oliver POS register, the customer can pay with the method they recognise from their home country, opened inside the in-POS browser view.

ConvertPlus hosted page

The WooCommerce plugin opens the "ConvertPlus" hosted page, which adapts to the customer's country: a US customer sees cards + PayPal; a Dutch customer sees iDEAL + cards; a German customer sees Sofort + cards. Verifone handles compliance, fraud, and tax (it acts as merchant of record for digital goods if you need that).

Best fit for retailers who…

Pick Verifone (2Checkout) at the Oliver POS if you sell international tourists at the counter, run a multi-currency shop, or sell digital goods alongside physical inventory and want one gateway covering both.
